Golden Flax Crackers
Gluten, Dairy, Grain, Egg & Nut Free + Vegan + Keto + Paleo Friendly
Ingredients
- 2 cups organic golden flax seed meal (I bought mine from iHerb)
- 2-3 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1-2 tsp onion powder
- 1-2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp olive oil or coconut oil (alternatively if you're not vegan, use lard, duck, beef or chicken fat to add a beautiful depth of flavour)
- 1/2 - 3/4 cups of water
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180C. Grease and line a baking tray.
2. Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix all the ingredients until combined. Start with 1/2 cup of water and gradually add more as you need it.
3. When it's ready place the dough onto the lined baking tray.
4. Use your hands or a rolling pin to flatten it out. Tip: oil the rolling pin and/ or your hands with a touch of olive or coconut oil when rolling it out so the dough doesn't stick. Keep rolling it out until you reach your desired thickness.
5. You can pre-slice the raw dough into crackers using a knife now if you choose too. This will make it easier to snap apart when they're cooked.
6. Place the tray in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. I have found the outsides cook faster than the middle, so after the outside crackers are cooked and golden I'll remove them and place them onto a wire cooling rack. Then pop the tray back in the oven to continue cooking the middle crackers until golden brown. Just a few more minutes will do.
8. When they're done, remove and allow to cool.
9. If you didn't pre-cut the crackers, simply break apart the large cracker into smaller ones.
10. Store in an air-tight container.
